I love music and I'm the proud ownwer of a 2003 Martin HD-28. Thus, I give myself much permission to be "pulled in" by many artists. As we approach Fall of 2017, I'm in a country mood, with Australian Glenn Skuthorpe, Chris Smither, Aaron Lewis, Sturgill Simpton, Chris Stapleton and Zach Brown Band leading the way. I also listen to South African Nick Turner (check out his song "Beurtkrag" on Youtube), a dear friend Christopher Williams (listen to "Do not be afraid" on his new release "Gather"), and Jordan Mackampa, and Passenger.

Whether digital or vinyl, listening to these modern day prophets are a priviledge.

Sidewalk preacherman

I saw a man in the street, he had words, he had to preach
But we just walked on by
Maybe we should stop and listen
Maybe he has words of wisdom
Maybe he has something different to say
Than the same shit that we hear everyday

Sidewalk Preacherman
Won’t you please come in
And share your thoughts here with me?
Sidewalk Preacherman
Don’t let them make you stop living
Your vision, your dreams
Sidewalk Preacherman

Try to make ends meet with tired feed
We pretend to agree with the suit-wearing freaks
Maybe all he needs is a suit and a briefcase to make you stop
And not walk on by

Maybe we should stop and listen
Maybe he has words of wisdom
Maybe he has something different to say
Than the same shit that we hear everyday

Sidewalk Preacherman
Won’t you please come in
And share your thoughts here with me?
Sidewalk Preacherman
Don’t let them make you stop living
Your vision, your dreams

Weeds

Didn’t anyone mention,
didn’t anyone mention that hate is all we show?
Love is not a side we care to know.
You cut half your heart,
it makes it hard to grow.
Soon you will know:
That we’ll all be damned in the morning;
we’ll all be damned in the evening too.
We’ll all be damned when the sun don’t shine,
and your hateful words’ll
come floating back to you.
Didn’t anyone teach you,
didn’t anyone teach you power is all you need?
You cheat your brother and drag him through the weeds.
A sharp quick incision should be all you need.
Soon, you will see:
that we’ll all be damned in the morning:
we’ll all be damned in the evening too.
We’ll all be damned when the sun don’t shine,
and your broken words’ll
come floating back to you.
Your broken words’ll
come floating back to you.
Your broken words’ll
come floating back to you.
